The Misfit Engine™
Most advice assumes you have uninterrupted time, stable energy, and a life that sits quietly in the corner while you build. If you don't have that - because you're a parent, a carer, neurodivergent, dealing with health stuff, carrying financial risk, or just trying to build something real inside a life that keeps interrupting - then that advice isn't neutral. It's hostile. It sets you up to fail and then tells you the failure is your fault.
The Misfit Engine is the refusal to accept that. It's the position that your constraints are not the problem. They are the design spec. You build around them, not in spite of them. You measure success differently. You stop chasing someone else's version of what a business should look like and start building something that can survive contact with your actual life.
That's the ideology. That's what the site is built on. That's what the book is about.
There's also a system being built.
I'm going to be straight with you: if you came here looking for a finished product called "The Misfit Engine", you're early. The system is the practical layer - a way to apply this thinking step by step, without needing perfect conditions, and without turning it into some performative productivity regime.
Why build it at all when the book exists? Because reading is not the same as doing, and most people don't need more information. They need something they can apply when their week is noisy, their energy is unpredictable, and their attention is being pulled in five directions at once.
The system will pull together the method and the behavioural reality into something usable. Not a "grind" system. Not a "scale at all costs" system. A system that treats interruption as the default setting, not as a failure state.
The honest status today is that it's still being built. I'm not going to dress that up. I'd rather you walk through a real door than get excited about a doorframe.
This thinking didn't come from a strategy retreat. It came from hospital waiting rooms, divorce paperwork, six kids, and a brain that has never once done what it was told. I built it because I needed it. The book is where I wrote it down properly. The system is how it becomes usable for everyone else.
